Web 2.0 Applications

I'm just starting with Glogster so this is unsophisticated but I already can see the many possibilities for my students.

AND there's more! See my test Google spreadsheet here.

I've just been introduced to Google Reader, which is a great way to keep up on topics of personal and professional interest. I've subscribed to the "news" and "education" feeds and will determine what other feeds are helpful. I mentioned this to some fellow teachers and they were unaware of the possibilities for using Google Reader as a teaching tool so we'll brainstorm in the future to discuss using it as a resource for educating our students. I'm really pleased my ECAP Web 2.0 course directed me to this time-saving and useful aid. Thanks!!

Welcome to Wiki. I thought wiki was something you made things out of like, "Oh, what a pretty wiki-basket" or "Your wiki-furniture is so comfortable" but it isn't. It allows many users to update and contribute to a multitude of different pages you, as a teacher, or your class can create. My Wiki page

I've spent the last 90 minutes crafting my three panel ToonDoo. It's a snapshot of my day in middle school. It was a lot of fun and a challenge to put together. I was using the tools that ToonDo provided so it took some imagination to make it work. The cartoon depicts three favorite parts of my day: greeting the students at the school's main door in the morning, being out in the hallways during passing periods where I can interact with the kids (and sometimes play traffic cop) and talking to the kiddos during class about what I think but what THEY are thinking. I mix life's lessons with English lessons! My Day
Flocabulary: Hip-Hop in the Classroom This site is a great resource. I've created multiple lessons for my students based on Flocabulary's challenges, lesson plans and exercises. My students love it and actually request it. I have an account which I use extensively. I have an intensive 7th grade ELAR class and they are picking up the basics of ELAR which they had lacked. I highly recommend this site.

  2. I have heard of Flocabulary and plan on using it in my classroom. I teach high school Geometry but it is so vocabulary rich that this would be a great resource!
